Drugs and alcohol abuse can affect the human body tremendously. For example, liver disease is when the liver has more enzymes than normal and can cause poisonous effects on the body. Another example is malnutrition and metabolic dysfunction. An addict’s ability to function normally can be impaired and can cause detrimental effects on the human body. The good news is if they seek recovery and manage to obtain healthy diet and supplements the effects can be restored. The last example is brain dysfunction. Alcohol and drugs can cause irreversible damage and can interrupt the production of neurotransmitters. Unfortunately, some of the brain damage may be permanent.
