Anabolic Steroids

Anabolic steroids, cortical steroids, and Estrogen steroids are three classes of steroids.  Some steroids occur naturally in the body while others are synthetically made and used for medical purposes.  Cortical steroids are used by prescription to treat some viruses, heart disease, and inflammation. They can also reduce water retention.   Estrogen is a hormone that is used for birth control and prevention of breast cancer and endometriosis.  Cortical steroids and Estrogen steroids are not typically abused.

Anabolic steroids are the steroids that are abused.  Anabolic steroids have many negative effects including acne, headaches, and liver damage.   Because steroids affect the hormones it typically has a reverse effect on men and women.  For men some other side effects include breast enlargement and shrinkage of testicles.  For women, these effects include facial hair, abnormal clitoris growth and reduced breast size.  Anabolic steroids come from testosterone and are commonly abused by teenagers and athletes as it enhances speed and endurance.  It also causes a weight gain and if combined with lifting weights and exercising it can turn fat into muscle.   Anabolic steroids cause internal damage to the liver, kidneys, and heart.   Roid Rage is an affect that causes hostile and aggressive behavior.  The user’s personality completely changes due the affects it has on the brain.
