New Feature Announcement: Sobriety Success Library

May 24, 2018 By Nick Leave a Comment

How do you make progress in your recovery?

You learn.

It is through this learning lens that you do things like journal, respond to questions, watch courses and interact with other students – the exact reason we founded Sobriety Success.

We’re really excited to announce another new feature for Sobriety Success members (2 new features this month – if you’re counting!) today;

Introducing: The Library.

Over the last few years we’ve authored eBooks, workbooks, videos, checklists and more. One of the things we realised is that all of that content would be super valuable to our members. So, why not just put them into a library for everyone?

And, that’s what we did.

The library was built to make accessing important information easy and simple for you. Almost all the documents are in PDF format which makes them easy to download and print.

We broke down the library into sections that closely matched the courses themselves. There’s also an extra bonus section for all those things we couldn’t find a home for but knew you’d benefit from having.

Here’s what it looks like:

Sobriety Success Library

As Sobriety Success continues to grow with new courses, resources and guides you’ll continue to have access to new material. This is one of the most valuable aspects of the membership.

That means that as a member, you’re continuously getting valuable recovery and addiction content to help you on your path to sobriety.

We’ve consciously made an effort to make sure that we’re empowering you with the tools necessary.

Workbooks

Workbooks are pretty self-explanatory but usually go hand in hand with the course you are taking. Typically there are journal questions you will be prompted to complete. Journal questions form an important part of self-discovery and understanding.

Checklists

Checklists support you in your everyday recovery. Some checklists are for specific weeks of certain courses while others are quick reminders of what to do when.

Planners and Guides

There are an assortment of guides and planners too that cover various topics. For example, there are guides on sleep and nutrition. See? We’ve thought of it all.

But…

If you want to see a guide that isn’t there or have a special request, just let us know in the Q&A forums. We’d love to create custom content or pdfs that work to help you when you need help the most.

We know that by adding constant content to your membership, that in turn you’re going to be more successful on your road to recovery.

If you aren’t a member yet (seriously…) you can take a $1 trial for 7 days with full-unlimited access. And, if you don’t like it, simply cancel it. No hard feelings. We promise.

5 Actionable Steps to Improve Your Health with Nutrition [infographic]

May 19, 2018 By Nick Leave a Comment

Food.

It goes without saying that almost all of us could do a better job with what, how and why we eat. But, why is it so important for those who are in recovery or who are sober already?

The food that you put into your body, ultimately nourishes the entire self.

Part of what makes addiction so damaging to the whole body is that it typically causes people to neglect making healthy choices elsewhere in their lives. Getting started on improving your health with nutrition can be a daunting task however. Where do you even start?

Don’t worry!

We’ve broken it down into 5 easy steps that anyone can use to get started:

Actionable Steps to Improve Nutrition

Share this Image On Your Site

Your overall health is highly dependent on the foods that you put into your body. I talk about healthy eating in most of my courses because it’s essential that you eat foods that will help you feel better in order to combat whatever addiction you’re trying to beat.

Start a Nutrition Plan Today!

Your task for this week is going to be to research online what type of nutritional program you want to start and to pick one that you think will work best for you. This isn’t a weight loss course or a course that’s going to teach you how to gain muscle. This is about reaching your maximum potential when it comes to your physical health.

Are you Eating the Right Foods?

To do this, you’ll want to take a look at your own diet and understand where you can improve. For starters, look at things like; are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? Are you getting enough protein and fiber? You’ll want to eliminate as much processed food as possible. With that being said, you should come up with your own nutritional goals; this may be to lose a few pounds or to just generally eat better. There are thousands of plans to choose from.

Why Use a Nutrition Plan?

The reason I suggest sticking with a plan because if you’re like most people, it’s hard to know and understand how exactly to optimize your nutrition for better health. Following a plan makes it much easier.

My sister did the Paleo Method and I have a friend who tried Whole 30. Some people are interested in going gluten free or maybe vegetarian. Whatever you’ve wanted to do, this is the week to figure that out and do what it takes to start. You can start by signing up for an online membership, purchasing or renting a book from the library or whatever it is you need to start.

Whatever you do, just get started!

5 Actionable Steps you can Take:

1. Find a nutrition program

2. Gather items you will need to make this a success: food, books, etc.

3. Get rid of junk food in your home – (soda, cookies, candy, etc.)

4. Cook food at home (bye-bye takeout)

5. Choose sensible portions (don’t go overboard and eat too much).

If you need additional support, you know how to reach us.

New Course Announcement – Video Game Addiction

May 17, 2018 By Nick Leave a Comment

Over the last few years we’ve noticed an alarming trend in video game addiction.

It’s on the rise.

While video games have been around for a long time, the more addictive mobile gaming and loot box filled world of today’s gamer is causing an explosion in people seeking help. But, what can you do?

Is video game addiction really a thing?

The answer is a resounding YES! A few months back we read some pretty alarming statistics on the video game industry and that got us thinking. We knew we had to do something.

That’s when we started wondering if the Sobriety Success method could work for people. We spent a few months researching and collating our feedback before developing a course.

After launching the course on our usual Udemy course we were blown away by the feedback and reviews. We honestly weren’t sure if we were on the right path when we started but this led us to believe we were on to something.

Here’s what just one reviewer thought of the course:

video game addiction review

Now, we knew that just copying and pasting a Sobriety Success course that was built for more traditional recovery or addiction wouldn’t work. That’s why, for this course, I’m the main instructor and not Denise.

We structured the course in a very familiar manner however. Here’s the modules within the course that we think are incredibly important:

Section 1 – Introduction

By the end of this section, students will firmly grasp exactly what they will be doing throughout the course. We’ll a short assignment to help stimulate thought processes around video game addiction. Additionally, we’ll talk about the technological things students will need to implement.

Section 2 – Preparing to Quit Video Games

Preparing to quit video games is all about the preparation work that students need to put in before actually quitting. Preparation is absolutely paramount to success. Included subject areas are; scientific impact of video game addiction, logging your time, the pomodoro technique, nutrition, sleep, exercise and more!

Section 3 – Taking Action

Just like it sounds, Taking Action is all about taking action! We’re going to be walking students through the exact steps and actions they need to take in order to quit their video game addiction.

Section 4 – Relapse and Relapse Prevention

As with all addictions, the difficulty of relapse cannot be ignored. We’ll dive deep into how to work through a relapse and hopefully prevent relapses after breaking free from your video game addiction.

Section 5 – Conclusion and Wrap Up

Our course ends with a brief wrap up reminding you of the long term benefits of quitting video game addiction.

The course delivers just over an hour of action packed advice, support and strategies to help students through their goals.

As part of our ongoing commitment to Sobriety Success members, the course is now available for you to enrol and get started with.

How it Works

A New Day for Addiction and Recovery

May 10, 2018 By Nick Leave a Comment

Sobriety Success Launch

Today is a massive day for anyone struggling with addiction, recovery and sobriety. After 5 years of building out courses and programs externally, we’ve built a product that we hope will redefine how people interact with and obtain their sobriety.

As we looked into how people traditionally approached addiction in their lives we noticed a huge problem. So many people we talked with needed a way to seek out treatment on their own terms.

That’s when it hit us.

We needed to build a platform that was completely dedicated to sobriety that was designed to be accessed at any time and from any location. Enter Sobriety Success.

Sobriety Success is the first of its kind of platform that combines both the effectiveness of online courses (something we’ve seen proven time and time again via 1300+ students) and community building. The platform has been built from the ground up with the end user in mind.

Let me explain.

Not everyone can do traditional rehab. Not everyone can quit their job for 30 days or their whole family.

Most people don’t like going to group meetings or seeking one-on-one counseling.

This is the exact premise for the Sobriety Success platform. Here are the main features that we’re really excited about launching with:

  • Recovery Courses
7 premium courses designed to cover a wide range of addiction and recovery related issues. Courses included drug and alcohol bootcamp, opioid addiction and more

  • Ask Live Rehab
Ask Live Rehab is a unique, community driven Q&A forum. Specifically designed for addiction and recovery, it’s like having your own personal coach 24×7!

  • Recovery Mastermind
Each month users have access to a Mastermind sessions diving deep into addiction and recovery related issues. Members also get access to the back catalog of previous Masterminds.

  • Private Facebook Group
Part of the recovery process built into the Sobriety Success method is building out relationships in a healthy way. The Private Facebook Group allows members to connect with likeminded people who are on the same journey as they are.

Let’s fix addiction and recovery

We’re really excited to be launching this first version of the platform and have many exciting changes, updates and improvements to make in the future. If you’re as excited as we are to be a part of the change, you can get started right here.

Sober Living – What the duck?

November 28, 2017 By Nick Leave a Comment

About 8 months ago we made a massive decision to move the Live Rehab family out to London. At the time I didn’t know what to expect but we knew it was something we wanted to do. We specifically wanted to live in London and not outside of London so we moved into Zone 4.

At first London has that “tourist” charm. That stage lasts about the average holiday (think 2 weeks or less). Then real life sets in. It’s at this point that London can seem very…rubbish. I mean this in a sense that it can be harsh, brutal and gritty. Coming from Seattle the initial shock was quite high.

Once that period is over you do start to see things differently. You can find the beauty (also perhaps because it is fall/autumn) in many places. Like this duck. Just chilling on the embankment on the walk home. It goes to show that if we look for beauty we are able to find it.

Sober living

One of the most surprising things about long-term sobriety has been the appreciation of beauty and love. With a clear, healthy and clean mindset cultivated over many years of hard practice it becomes almost second nature. Sober living has many things to teach us and we believe that these lessons change over time and in sync with the life we are leading.

By listening intently to the messages that our journey on sobriety is trying to take us, we can see the impacts of healthy living. Looking at life through a lens of addiction causes us to not see the beauty all around us. Then, once we obtain sobriety, it can take many years before this natural beauty and wonder is realized back to us again.

So, Live Rehab friends, where do you find beauty in the most unlikely of places and how has it impacted your sober living?
